Evanston is a special place where you'll experience a generous serving of Wyoming friendship, a firm handshake and a genuine "Howdy." Evanston is nestled in the Bear River Valley, with southern views of the majestic High Uinta Mountains. The Bear River flows through the community, meandering past Bear River State Park where elk and bison roam. Best Western Evanston Wyoming.

Things to do in Evanston

Bear River State Park
Although merely a creek at this point, the Bear River flows northward and eventually drains into the Great Salt Lake. Clocking in at 400 miles in length, it is the largest river in the Western Hemisphere that does not reach an ocean. Three miles of trails are offered for hiking and biking. Call 307-789-6547 for more information.

Evanston Depot
Set in the center of town, this is one of the finest depots in the west and included separate waiting rooms for men and women. A 1944 Union Pacific Railroad dining car and caboose stand just outside the depot.

Fort Bridger State Historic Site
Restored buildings, a museum and displays with interpretive devices are available to better understand the Fort's history.

Joss House
Located on the north side of the tracks, this building was part of Evanston's turn of the century Chinatown. The Taoist temple was constructed in 1894 and was a destination for countless pilgrims to worship. The original building burnt to the ground in a suspicious 1922 fire, which destroyed all of Chinatown. The Joss House was rebuilt in 1990 and furnished with local memorabilia. Call 307-789-1472 for more information.
