Fort Caspar Museum and Historic Site is the location of a 1865 military post, named after 2nd Lieutenant Caspar Collins. This reconstructed post is located in Casper, "the Oil City", near the North Platte River at the foot of Casper Mountain. The Historic Trails Interpretive Center, located in Casper, strives to educate the public on the significance of the region's historic trails. The center is co-managed by the Bureau of Land Management and the National Historic Trails Center Foundation.
