Grand Teton National Park
Grand Teton rises 13,770 feet above sea level towering over the valley of Jackson Hole. The 12 Teton peaks reach over 12,000 feet in elevation. Although the eastern face range is sharply steeped, the western range slopes gently downward, displaying the tilt angle of the Earth's crust. This is the youngest range in the Rocky Mountain System featuring some of North America's oldest rocks. Jackson Hole Mountain Resort
Opened in 1965, this has quickly become the nation's top winter ski destination. In midwinter, a temperature inversion occurs creating a 15-20 degree warmer climate at the top of the mountain compared with the base.
